Volusia County Property Appraiser: A Buyer's Guide
By Israel Chen ·
Short answer: The Volusia County Property Appraiser's site at vcpa.vcgov.org shows each parcel's owner, just value, last sale and land details for free. It also publishes weekly data downloads, including a list of vacant land. It's the first stop before any Volusia bid.
What to check on a parcel
- Just value. A starting point, not a sale price.
- Property use. "Vacant" here means the county shows no building. Zillow may still show an old house.
- Last sale. A $100 entry is usually a transfer, not a price. Look further back.
- Size and shape. A tiny acreage or a very low value can mean it isn't a normal lot.
The free downloads
The office publishes weekly extracts of vacant land and non-homestead parcels, plus sales data and a full database. I built the Volusia Bid Desk on them, so you can compare a lot with real sales without a spreadsheet.
Questions
Is the Volusia County Property Appraiser search free?
Yes. Parcel search and the weekly data downloads are free at vcpa.vcgov.org.
